Tonya Burdine

My artwork is an attempt to capture and keep the beauty that I see around me, and to share that with others. I am that person who will suddenly stop mid-sentence to gape at a stunning cloud formation or the way a beam of light lands on a banana palm. These things, in real life, are fleeting, and easily missed during daily routines. My paintings are an attempt to re-create that beauty in a form that endures and can be enjoyed whenever we want. I live and work in Long Beach California, and many of my paintings seek to honor the landscapes and seascapes of Southern California. The natural world, and the non-human inhabitants of Earth, keep me inspired.
