Tina Burnight

Tina Burnight

Tina Burnight has experimented with many mediums including metal sculpture, stained glass, and photography, but concentrates mostly on ceramics and mosaics. Recently, she has begun experimenting with pencil drawing and stippling.

“I like to incorporate a sense of movement into my work. The spin of the galaxies, the dance of sea turtles as they swim, how water weaves itself as it moves. All these and more inspire my work regardless of my medium.” Burnight was a co-creator, along with her mentor, Lisa Wibroe, of the LB Open Studio Tour. Together, they helped grow the Tour, adding artists and neighborhoods for 10 years before turning the leadership over to the current creative team.

Burnight has shown her work on the Tour since its inception in 2010. Her work was featured in the grand opening of the remodeled gift shop at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific and her mosaic piece, “Matt’s Uke”, was chosen to be part of a group display of Long Beach artists in the office of Lena Gonzalez when she was Long Beach City Council’s 1st District Councilperson. In 2019, Burnight participated in both the Long Beach Creative Group Gallery and the Loiter Galleries LB Open Studio Tour promotional shows.

She is excited to be included in the 2023 LB Open Studio Tour.
