Joseph Corso

Joseph Corso

Joseph Corso has been drawing and painting as long as he can remember, and sold his first painting at the age of six.  A Southern California native, he has spent most of his life as a landscape painter, dealing with the unique quality of light here in the Southland. He has also painted a series of window images, exploring different qualities of light, and the contrast between organic forms and man-made structures.

Joseph attended the Art department of California State University, Long Beach, where he earned a degree in painting in 1980 and also did extensive studies in printmaking.  He began a career as a painter and lithographer in the 1980’s, and his landscapes are in private and public collections throughout the country. He has since had many solo exhibitions in Southern California and participated in group exhibitions on both coasts.  He has won awards in national juried shows and was active in the L. A. County Museum of Art’s rental program.  He has lived in Long Beach since 1987.
