Dave Moeller

Born and raised on a farm in western Iowa, I loved to draw and paint horses. After my family relocated to the Los Angeles area when I was 13, I was soon caught up in the burgeoning surfing craze, which turned into a life-long passion. After a stint in the Army, I received an Associate Arts Degree from Goldenwest College in Huntington Beach, majoring in Graphic Design. The rendering and illustration class I took as part of my studies (taught by Bob Alderette) would have a major impact on my style of painting, which previously had been influenced by the Impressionists. My preferred fine art mediums are acrylic painting and Prismacolor drawings.

I live with my wife Betsy in Costa Mesa, and enjoy frequent getaways to our cabin in the Boulder Bay area of Big Bear Lake. Our hikes in the mountains have provided me with a wealth of reference photos from which to paint, with Big Bear landscapes and wildlife being the bulk of my subject matter.
