David Rodriguez

David Rodriguez – 3758 Olive Avenue

David Rodriguez is an amateur photographer who says he is currently having fun shooting just about everything from architecture and street scenes to collectible toys, but, believes he will eventually concentrate on black-and-white photography, which he finds both timeless and captivating.

“I first starting shooting with a small pocket, digital camera,” says David. “My goal was to shoot the hell out of it, while working on my composition, perspective, and, of course, my commitment to photography. I still carry a camera with me pretty much everywhere I go.”

David understands the importance of knowing the basic skills and rules of photography. But even so, he feels there are times when the subject, lighting, mood and timing allow one to break away from them.

“I see pictures by so many other amazing photographers that just stop me in my tracks. They inspire me to want to capture amazing images. I want my photos to have that same influence on someone else.”

David is founder and co-curator at Gallery Expo. He is also a member at Second City Arts Council in Long Beach and has been a participating artist in the Long Beach Open Studio Tour for the past three years.

David’s photos have been selected by The Huntington Library and featured in Trebuchet Magazine in the UK.

“I definitely don’t want to be the kind of artist who can’t see beyond his own work and not draw inspiration from the great work of others.”
